The MV Holiday Island ferry is being evacuated due to a fire in the engine room.
The ferry left port in Caribou, N.S., on its way to Wood Islands, P.E.I., when the fire broke out just before noon Friday.The ferry has run aground near Wood Islands. The RCMP is asking people to avoid the area.
is assisting with an incident offshore near the Wood Island Ferry Terminal. The terminal is currently closed. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area to allow first responders to do their work.Bay Ferries says they will use their marine rescue procedure and inflatable slides to get passengers off the vessel into rafts below.
