Emergency crews are responding after a fire broke out on the Holiday Island ferry in Wood Islands. RCMP also confirmed the fire, and asked everyone to avoid the area.

Photos on social media showed smoke billowing from the vessel shortly before noon just inside the Wood Islands Ferry Terminal entrance. Jack Joyce, an official with Northumberland Ferries, confirmed to SaltWire Network there was a fire on board, but said there was no other information available. A witness on scene said a lobster boat could be seen escorting passengers back to shore, and lifeboats were deployed.RCMP also confirmed the fire, and asked everyone to avoid the area.
