Court is adjourned and surf’s up for the fearless attorney Marcie Diggs, as Diggstown takes its final bow this Wednesday after four seasons on CBC.

Created by writer/producer/Dalhousie Law School alumnus Floyd Kane, the Maritimes-shot show has been a breath of fresh air in the realm of TV legal drama, with a multi-faceted lead performance by Vinessa Antoine as the brilliant, empathetic Halifax attorney who works out her frustrations and trauma on the waves at Martinique Beach, and a skillfully assembled supporting cast of actors who created a believable world around her as colleagues, adversaries, family and friends.

And making change happen on-set seemed to be a natural extension of the kind of show Diggstown was meant to be. Lawyer Doug Paul continues to be one of Marcie Diggs’ staunchest allies on the final season of CBC’s Diggstown, which reaches its conclusion on Wednesday. - Dan Callis/CBC , Kane says viewers can go back and see how the show accomplished a series of remarkable goals that the producer set out for his writers, cast and crew, without losing sight of the emotional journey he had in mind for Marcie and her colleagues from the very start.
