One person is dead after a vehicle, carrying three members of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, collided with a semi truck Sunday morning.

Mayerthorpe RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 43 near Range Road 43 on Sunday around 11:36 a.m., said a Tuesday news release. The investigation revealed that a vehicle crossed the centre median of the highway, entering eastbound traffic and striking the side of a semi that was heading eastbound, killing a 26-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle.Sign up to receive daily headline news from the Calgary SUN, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.

The Alexis Nakota Sioux First Nation is located about 10 kilometres west of Edmonton and 55 km southeast of Mayerthorpe.
