WARNING: This story contains distressing details. The Correctional Service of Canada confirmed Friday that Paul Bernardo was transferred from a maximum security facility in Ontario to a medium security prison in Quebec.

Correctional Service of Canada gave no reason for move to medium security prison, citing privacy law: lawyerPaul Bernardo is shown in this courtroom sketch during Ontario court proceedings via video link in Napanee, Ont., in October 2018. Despite Bernardo being denied parole twice, the Correctional Service of Canada confirmed Friday that the convicted serial rapist and murderer was transferred from a maximum security facility in Ontario to a medium security prison in Quebec.

"This just brings back all the horrible memories that they've been trying to suppress and control over these last number of decades. So it just brings sadness and despair and disbelief to them." Toronto lawyer Tim Danson represented the families of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, who were raped and murdered by Bernardo. Danson says he was informed earlier this week by the Correctional Service of Canada that Bernardo had been moved.Danson says he and the French and Mahaffy families are demanding greater transparency from the corrections system since the administration of justice is in the public interest.
