ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe says Eskom has become a shadow of what it used to be.
He was speaking during the party’s elections manifesto launch, which was held in Ellis Park’s Indoors Arena in Johannesburg.
Meshoe says after a decade of State capture and corruption under former President Jacob Zuma’s administration, the country has gone from bad to worse. He says, “Last night, as I prepared myself for this morning, the lights went off. It is fashionable for Eskom to switch off while you are busy. This morning, we want to say we are tired of that. The sad thing is that in the year 2000, between 2000 and 2010 Eskom was voted as the best power utility in the whole world, not in Africa but in the whole world, because Eskom was providing what it was created for.
“The ACDP has heard the SOS from the people of South Africa. People of South Africa who are saying we are going in the wrong direction. Some are saying we are sinking in poverty, we are sinking in a lack of services. And I’m here to say this morning the ACDP has heard this SOS from the people of South Africa.
