Former president Donald Trump has more enthusiastic supporters than President Biden, according to a poll released Thursday by Gallup. The poll showed that 79 percent of Republicans said they were pleased with their party’s nominee, while 42 percent of Democrats said they were pleased that Biden was their party’s nominee. Fifty-six percent of Democrats said they would prefer to have a candidate other than Biden.
The poll also found that, even though the candidates were born only three years apart — Biden is 81 and Trump is 78 — Americans were less likely to express concern over Trump’s age than Biden’s. Sixty-seven percent of respondents said Biden was too old to be president, while 37 percent said the same about Trump, according to the poll.
