A multi-billion dollar transit project that over promises and under delivers, a delayed opening, stonewalling, finger-pointing and litigation. Finally, in the face of bureaucratic and political obfuscation, it’s left to a public inquiry to provide the accountability and answers about what went wrong.. And it seems the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is following the same playbook.

Yet other troubling problems seen in Ottawa are playing out with the Toronto project, notably the lack of answers from those in charge. In a statement to Star on Friday, a Metrolinx spokesperson said the goal is to open “as soon as possible.” The agency said progress was made last year in areas such as vehicle testing, road restoration and landscaping around stations.
