The council said a new development at Wilkieston has highlighted the need for new speed limit measures to be introduced
A 40mph limit will be enforced on the A71, west side of Wilkieston as well as at West Bonnington Road. A 20mph speed limit will also be in place on the proposed West Bonnington Drive.
The statutory process required for the introduction of the new speed limits will allow an opportunity for any formal objections to be raised by the public.Michael Beveridge said: “So West Lothian Council so how long are we going to be inconvenienced by the temporary lights? Traffic is absolutely horrendous in both directions and this requires immediate action and intervention to get traffic flowing freely in all directions.
The speed limit reduction will reduce the speed of traffic on the A71 from 50mph to 40mph entering Wilkieston where the new housing and access junction will be constructed.
