Abby Clow received horsewoman of the year as she has shown her commitment to the business in the Melissa Rennie stable while studying full-time at UPEI.The Phillip and Henry Doucette Lifetime Achievement Award went to Don MacNeill, a main cog in the Gass family’s Dusty Lane Farms in Cornwall and a man responsible for the existence of more horses than anyone on P.E.I. with his cross-country travelling to breed mares.
The PCHC breeder of the year was awarded to Bruce Wood of Woodmere Farms while the Sponsor Appreciation Award went to longtime supporter George Riley. The top three-year-old trot filly was Majian Salsa for the Amherst, N.S., duo of owner Marylea Ripley and trainer-driver Jim Ripley. Three-year-old pacing colt of the year was Silver Spirit. Devon Wallace owns and trains with Ken Murphy doing most of the driving. Murphy also won the Top Driver Award and plans to be back in the race bike for the May 6 season opener in Charlottetown after being injured late in 2022.
