Breaking local news in Boksburg
Diamond dealer Louis Liebenberg and his wife, Dezzi, were arrested at a restaurant at the Benoni Country Club on October 22 at around 19:00.According to Hawks spokesperson Colonel Philani Nkwalase, this is in connection with a syndicate allegedly involved in dealing in unpolished diamonds and fraud.
Nkwalase said the suspects were arrested in Gauteng and North West provinces, respectively, during an operation that began on October 22 and ended on the morning of October 23. “Investigations are still ongoing, and more arrests are imminent. The suspects are expected to appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court on October 24, on charges including, but not limited to, fraud, money laundering, theft and racketeering,” Nkwalase said.
