These models are crucial for driving informed product assortment decisions, encompassing substitution logic, leftover stock management often referred to as carcass balancing, and robust fraud-related anomaly detection.

The role encompasses the enhancement and maintenance of clustering models, which are utilized to group stores based on department-level similarities, enabling optimized inventory management and resource allocation. Furthermore, the Data Scientist will be responsible for developing data-driven insights into customer needs, with the primary objective of improving assortment effectiveness and ensuring that products align with customer demand. A key aspect of the role involves supporting decision-making related to substitution scores. This includes determining which substitute products can be effectively routed to various stores based on established demand patterns, thereby minimizing stockouts and maximizing sales opportunities. The Data Scientist will also be involved in analyzing leftover stock, sometimes called carcass, and devising optimal redistribution strategies across different store locations. Moreover, the role will contribute to the development and implementation of automated audit mechanisms and anomaly detection models, contributing to fraud prevention efforts. This includes working with and refining existing complex models, improving their accuracy and speed. Engineering principles must be applied to streamline processes, improve throughput, and increase operational reliability. The ability to work collaboratively with the business and translate technical findings into actionable and practical recommendations is a critical component of the role.\The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
