Both Liberal and Conservative MPs asked for the committee to meet. A letter from Conservative members asked the committee to “invite the leadership of Rogers to publicly explain the internet outage that began on July 8th, as well as the CRTC to outline how the regulator plans to ensure this does not happen again.”

In its letter to Rogers, the CRTC said it has received “numerous” complaints as well as requests for a public inquiry following the outage. It also took Rogers to task for its lack of communications about the problem. It pointed out that Rogers also experienced an outage in 2021, and told the company it should have “mitigation measures in place to address such possibilities.”Article content
