On the weekend, reports emerged suggesting that the wantaway forward could rejoin his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon.
The 37-year-old, who is understood to be seeking UEFA Champions League football next season, has not reported for pre-season with United, casting further doubt on his future with the club after he asked to leave the Red Devils a few weeks ago.
