Councillor calls for more transparency after retired deputy police chief is rehired, with two pensions yyc yyccc
Last November, Calgary Police Service Chief Mark Neufeld agreed to provide a new contract to Deputy Chief Paul Cook in a post that will pay him nearly $250,000. The move will also provide Cook with two pensions.
Coun. Kourtney Penner said the matter amounts to a breakdown in communication on how the decision was made. Penner said regardless of whether it’s the police or City of Calgary staff, all HR processes need to be transparent if the city is going to maintain public trust.
