Stirling Council bin bosses say there’s no reason to believe flytipping will increase because of plans to introduce a new booking system for the authority’s household waste recycling centres.

In Wednesday’s Observer we reported that council bosses are to overhaul the waste collection system in a bid to save £500,000 - including changes to bin workers’ shift patterns and an online booking system for HWRCs.

However, at a meeting of the environment, transport and net zero committee, some quizzed management over the potential for the booking system to cause issues. “In regards to charging people to use HWRC, personally I’d be nervous as a manager about asking someone to pay for what is a predominantly free service.
