The council has announced the big date
Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Christmas programme has been revealed, including a November 25 date for Christmas lights switch on in Derry city with Strabane’s the next day on Saturday, November 26.
She continued: ‘Santa’s switch on procession will consist of festive characters, NI Fire and Rescue Service, panto characters and beautiful bespoke Christmas-themed mobile installations. Mrs McCarter noted that the Council had a budget in excess of over £200,000 for Christmas illuminations. She praised the programme for giving families the chance to ‘go out into their communities, to mingle and to enjoy Christmas as best they can’.
