Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi receives a red card, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi was given a red card with the Soweto derby just a few matches away.The 59-year-old Tunisian has never coached his team in a derby since taking over in July last year. After his red card on Sunday, there were fears among Amakhosi fans that Nabi might miss arguably the team’s most important match of the season.
The former Young African coach was seen having a heated exchange with referee Olani Kwinda after the final whistle of their Betway Premiership match. Having received a red card, Nabi will be suspended for two matches which are against Sekhukhune United and Orlando Pirates.The Tunisian mentor is certain to miss the Sekhukhune match this coming weekend but will be back against Pirates on 1 February. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) conducted the Nedbank Cup last 32 draw last week but are yet to confirm dates and venues. The weekend of the 25, 26 of January will be reserved for the Nedbank Cup meaning Kaizer Chiefs will play Free Agents FC that weekend. Nabi will return for the Soweto game against Orlando Pirates on 1 February after serving his two-match suspension.
