“I’m excited to get to play in our tournament because we will have the support of our home fans and our own school because we are playing in front of the school.”The tournament, which features 12 off-Island teams, will also provide an economic spin-off to P.E.I.’s capital city as teams and fans will be staying in local hotels and eating Charlottetown-area restaurants. The girls are divided into four three-team pools.
“It’s really special for us because normally our team doesn’t get to play in ,” said 16-year-old Nathan Wheeler, a Grade 11 guard from Sherwood-Parkdale in his second season with the AA team. “It’s a big opportunity for us, and we have nothing to lose coming into it because we weren’t even supposed to be in it at the start.
