The Constitutional Court has rejected former president Jacob Zuma's application for leave to appeal his private prosecution case against President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Constitutional Court has rejected former president Jacob Zuma’s application for leave to appeal his private prosecution case against President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Zuma accused Ramaphosa of being an accessory after the alleged leak of his medical details, but the court found that Zuma failed to explain the delay in bringing the case and there were no reasonable prospects of success. ‘The Constitutional Court has considered the application for leave to appeal and has concluded that there is no adequate explanation for the applicant’s delay in bringing the application for leave to appeal and there are no reasonable prospects of success on the merits of the application for leave to appeal,’ read the court ruling.

The ConCourt has dismissed former President Jacob Zuma’s application for leave to appeal in his private prosecution bid against President Cyril Ramaphosa. It found no reasonable prospects of success and refused condonation, leave to appeal therefore fails.The ruling brings an end to Zuma’s bid for private prosecution, following earlier rejections by the Gauteng High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
