Overall last year, there was approximately 2,000 meals provided by different groups and individual hunters to food banks in the province. We donated capelin, blueberries, and a full moose harvested under StHNL's charity moose license. How our program works: Big game meat that is donated must come from a licensed big game hunter of the current year. Hunters have the option of donating through StHNL and we will assume the processing fees. To register your donation, go to our website, sharingtheharvestnl.ca. Hunters can donate it themselves but would assume the cost themselves.
Unfortunately every year, there are complaints about game meat being thrown out in the garbage. A couple of reasons that this happens is because mostly, it's been in the freezer too long and/or to make room for this year's game meat. We need to create a public education to address this problem and we believe that StHNL is the answer.
