SYDNEY — The Halifax Pelham Canadians scored five times in the second inning to earn a 7-1 win over the Sydney Sooners in a Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League semifinal series on Saturday. Sooners’ Matt Campbell hit a solo home run in the fifth inning that halted a shutout bid from Pelham Canadians’ lefty Brandon MacKinnon at the Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park. Reilly O’Rourke took the loss as he went the distance for the Sooners.
Game 2 was slated for Sunday at Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park. Game 3 will be in Halifax’s Mainland Commons on Friday, an 8 p.m. start. If necessary, Games 4-5 will be played Saturday at 3 p.m., also in Halifax.
