If you answer yes, the city urges you to make the necessary arrangements to retrieve your car from its facilities across the city by July 12 because vehicles not collected before 15:00 on July 12 will be at risk of disposal.
According to the metro, about 141 vehicles are kept at the EMPD pounds. Some were impounded after they were involved in accidents, for contravening the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or breaching the city’s by-laws.Owners wishing to retrieve their vehicles must provide these items:Municipal inspectors said the pound fees differ from one vehicle to another because they mostly depend on the factors and circumstances surrounding the impoundment of the respective vehicle.
However, when an owner cannot afford to pay the pound fees, they must apply to the CoE chief of police for a reduction of the fees.The pounds are open between 08:00 and 15:00 from Monday to Friday.
