The Yi Peng 3 ship is accused of dragging its anchor, purposefully damaging communications cables.
Investigators used satellite images to determine that the Yi Peng 3 ship was moving slower than normal when the cables broke suggesting a dragging anchor.Last week two undersea communication cables in the Baltic Sea were knocked offline cutting communications between European countries. Now investigators suspect that China and Russia may be behind the outage accusing the countries of conspiring to sabotage the aforementioned cables.
Investigators have said that while the anchor dragging could have been an accident, its unlikely that the captain wouldn’t have noticed the ship’s reduced speed.
