). The underexplored adaptive capacity of maslins, as well as the shift of varieties in varietal mixtures across years, have implications for climate change-resilient farming. Our current understanding of farmers’ willingness to let maslins evolve suggests that a similar increase in the complementarity of maslin components over time is possible.

Maslins may present a unique complement to varietal mixture and interfamilial mixture cropping systems for sustainable and agroecological intensification.
