Cape Town has initiated its most extensive festive season safety operation to date, preparing for an influx of visitors this summer.
In response to a surge of holiday visitors, Cape Town has unveiled its largest-ever festive season safety operation.
Mayor Hill-Lewis expressed excitement about welcoming a record number of visitors this season, emphasising the importance of tourism to local jobs and Cape Town’s reputation as a safe, attractive destination.This year’s Cape Town festive season safety operation will include high-visibility policing at key attractions, including Table Mountain, beaches, shopping centres, and the city centre.
“We encourage responsible enjoyment,” Smith said, highlighting alcohol’s role in public safety risks and the importance of Cape Town’s by-laws.Cape Town’s safety plan includes robust water safety measures. Over 600 lifeguards will be deployed at popular beaches and swimming pools as part of a dedicated drowning prevention campaign.
