Approximately 21,000 runners including some of Africa’s top athletes, will be taking part in the main marathon.
Mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith said he hopes residents and visitors will come out to show support to athletes this weekend. The extensive race route will result in road closures in several suburbs, including the CBD, Green Point, District Six, Sea Point, Woodstock, Salt River, Observatory, Mowbray, Claremont, Rondebosch and Newlands.
It is encouraged that runners make use of the convenient park-and-ride system to avoid congestion heading to the precinct on the morning of the race.
