The vehicle slid and hit Goudreau-Aucoin. There were two or three men there who helped me, my knees were really weak. They literally lifted me,” he said.

"Everybody loved her. She got along with everybody. It’s hard to believe. She couldn’t believe it. She said, “Your friends are so nice. They really make me feel welcome,” Aucoin recalled. “She would tell me, 'I’m your secretary,'" said Aucoin, smiling at the memory. “We did everything together. I’d do anything for her.”

Goudreau-Aucoin moved to Reserve Mines into the home Aucoin grew up in and the couple married during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. A lover of baking , Gourdreau-Aucoin also loved gardening and landscaped their yard. "She was just walking on the side of the road to where the van was in the woods...the car took the turn and slid into her and into the ditch,” said Aucoin, tears welling in his eyes again.
