ahead of what had been described as a mid-afternoon emergency board of governors meeting, according to Navy Nguyen.

Nguyen noted that for international students in particular, any time off due to the strike puts added stressors on those who are attending university under study permits. “Our message is that the decisions made by the board and the administration will have a direct impact on our education. … As students we are taking this time to really listen to and pay attention to what decisions are being made on our behalf,” the group noted.
On Friday, faculty association members hit the picket line, striking mainly over what they call a lack of respect from CBU’s administration, and roadblocks in seeking pay raises in line with the current cost of living. As well, the union representing these members is urging for adjustments in how CBU handles an influx of international students coming in to study.
