The rookie of the year award was presented to 16-year-old defenceman Tomas Lavoie. The first overall pick last July improved his defensive game throughout the season and finished the campaign with two goals and 16 points in 59 games. Rugged defenceman Conor Shortall took home two awards during the event. He was presented with the Greg Lynch Memorial Trophy given to a player who represents hard work, team-first and strong character. The St. John's, N.L., product was also given the fan's choice award.
Defenceman Xavier Daigle was presented with the Bobby Joe Ryan memorial award for best sportsmanship. The rookie had four goals and 20 points and appeared in all 68 games for the team.
