He’s most likely to be an AHLer to start the season again next year, but by retaining him this is a statement by the Canucks that they still think he has a chance to play NHL games. A right-shot defenceman, Woo turns 23 this summer. He’s still a long shot to become an NHL regular, given his place on the Canucks’ depth chart, but he’s come a long way in a year. In 2021-22, he was a regular scratch and when he did play, it was often as a forward.
