Garland is going back to the worlds in 2023. He’s agreed to join Team USA for the tournament, which starts in just over a week in Finland and Latvia. The 2021 tournament was hosted by Latvia but the Americans are in Group A, which will play its games in Tampere, Finland. His 2021 selection was the first time he’d been called up by his country. He was never part of the centralized U.S. National Team Development Program, nor did he get consideration for any of USA Hockey’s junior teams.Article content
He’s the third Canuck to be confirmed to be playing in this year’s edition of the world championships, joining Ethan Bear andLed by Garland, the Americans finished third overall, losing their only game of the tournament to Canada in the semifinals. Canada, led by Connor Brown and Andrew Mangiapane, had stumbled through the preliminary round, losing three times in regulation and once in OT, but still ended up winning gold after going undefeated in the knockout stages.
