Inspectors will be keeping a close eye on the Hunter River bakery

By The River Bakery in Hunter River has been flagged for violations of the Public Health Act on four separate inspections since June 27. Provincial health inspectors gave the green light for the bakery to stay open after it passed inspection on Aug. 4. - ContributedCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A Hunter River bakery will continue to operate after provincial health inspectors gave it the all-clear during the latest inspection on Aug. 4.

“A professional pest control company was hired to help with the insects, and a professional refrigeration company was also brought in to help with some of the equipment issues that were happening," O’Brien said. “All of the other outstanding items with respect to food storage and temperature issues and sanitation concerns were by the operator."

Tanya O’Brien, senior environmental health officer with the Department of Health and Wellness, said her office will be increasing the number of inspections to By The River Bakery in Hunter River due to its prior history. - Contributed O’Brien added that because the bakery has had a long list of failed inspections, including an order to close twice in the past year, health officials will be stepping up enforcement with additional visits.

In 2021, health inspectors visited the bakery 12 times and have already completed 11 so far this year with another one set to take place later this month.Following is a list of public health inspections that have taken place at By The River Bakery this year:
