Fan anger as Burnley FC and Blackburn Rovers derby moved to Remembrance Sunday

Fans of Burnley and Blackburn have inundated their local MP with complaints after the much-anticipated derby was rescheduled to take place on Remembrance Sunday.

In his letter to Trevor Birch, the chief executive of the FA, Mr Stephenson highlighted his constituency's 'deep ties' with the armed forces and said that veterans and those currently serving are 'deeply upset' at the scheduling. He wrote: "As the MP for the constituency of Pendle I represent tens of thousands of Burnley fans and a fair number of Blackburn supporters too. They have inundated me with complaints about the scheduled kick-off time just one hour after the nation its fallen to be crass and poorly judged. I assume this is for the benefit of TV broadcasters.

"Some of course never returned home at all. Veterans and those currently serving are deeply upset at the dismissive message scheduling the match at this time sends to them.
