A 19-year-old male teen and a 27-year-old man were arrested for their suspected involvement in two separate cases of loanshark harassment in the northeast of Singapore.
The note said:"Here, bro, I give you face. Put paper contact me back and gao dai properly."
In the second case on Nov 4, the entrance of a flat at Punggol Place was splashed with paint and an obscene note was left outside. After the vulgarity, the note said:"U better come out settle our company money. This time splash paint only. Last warning! If not settle, we come to ur house direct burn!"
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from police cameras and closed-circuit TV, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identities of both suspects and arrested them on Nov 8.The two were charged in court on Nov 9 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first-time offenders, loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
