South Africa take a 90-run first-innings lead over Pakistan to the Tea break courtesy of a set of outstanding knocks from Aiden Markram and debutant Corbin Bosch in the second session at SuperSport Park.

Markram was rock solid in his innings. He struck the perfect balance between asserting his dominance over the visiting bowling attack and being disciplined in his 144-ball stay at the crease. The 30-year-old fell 11 runs shy of an eighth career century and what would have been his second ton this year as he recorded 89 runs, a knock which saw the right-handed batter smash 15 fours.

Having taken a four-for with the ball on Day one, the 30-year-old put his batting skills on full display with an invaluable 81 not-out to take South Africa to a decent 284/9 first innings total. Bosch had come in to bat with the hosts trailing Pakistan by 20 runs and was forced to bat with the tail. The right-handed batter played the role to perfection as he reached a maiden half-century and guided South Africa to relative safety in the context of the match just when the visitors would have thought they had brought the match back in the balance.
