Hundreds of shacks were destroyed in a devastating fire at the Booysens Informal Settlement in Johannesburg, leaving over 400 families homeless. Residents are facing immense loss and the challenge of rebuilding in an unsafe environment. Emergency services and NGOs are providing urgent assistance with food, shelter, and necessities.

Johannesburg Emergency Services says although the fire that destroyed hundreds of shacks at the Booysens Informal settlements in Johannesburg has been extinguished, it is still not safe for residents to rebuild their homes at the site.
