National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has denounced the alleged use of excessive force by security personnel to prevent a gathering of his supporters. Kyagulanyi accused security forces of arresting, beating, and interrogating three of his workers, claiming they were labeled as terrorists and criminals solely for their association with the party. The incident occurred a day after NUP hosted an event for children affected by what the party described as state repression.

In a statement, Kyagulanyi accused security forces, led by a one Asiimwe, of deploying heavily around his premises early in the morning. "The criminals... threw tear gas into our premises, cordoned off the area, and blocked all access," Kyagulanyi said. The arrests and disruption occurred a day after NUP hosted an event for children affected by what the party described as state repression.
