Miami won 6-5 in ten innings.Bass, a former Jays, would appear to be the jewel of the deal, given the outstanding season he’s been having in Miami. In 45 appearances there, he has a tidy 1.41 ERA while striking out 45. Bass, who was with the Jays in 2020, has walked just 10 batters.
Based on his performance so far this season, Bass figures to slide into a high-leverage spot at the back end of the Jays bullpen. Meanwhile, the Jays have dealt first-round picks from three of the past four seasons – 2021 pick Gunner Hogland, who went to Oakland in the Matt Chapman deal and 2020 choice Austin Martin, who was part of last summer’s deadline deal with the Twins that brought starter Jose Berrios to Toronto.
