BLAST FROM THE PAST: Redblacks celebrate Legacy Night, but beating Stamps most important

Kanneh and his teammates on the 2022 Redblacks will enjoy the moment, appreciate the history. But only for a few moments. There’s lots of work to do, plenty of hurdles to jump, if they want any chance to provide another historic moment for Ottawa. With a 1-6 record and facing the 4-2 Stampeders, it’s business as usual. Play a football game. And play it hard. Win the game. Then another. Nostalgia is great, but it’s about beating the Stamps Friday.

It’s been said before, but the Redblacks have played better than their record indicates. In particular, they’ve let wins slip away against Winnipeg and Hamilton and had a good opportunity to beat Montreal a couple of weeks ago. Realistically, they could be 4-3 instead of 1-6. In Sunday’s 23-13 win in Toronto, the Redblacks finished what they started, not allowing any points to the Argos in the second half.

“The thing I’m pretty proud of it is we’ve been pretty resilient through losses to make sure we’re back up and not worrying about what happened the previous week,” said Redblacks coach Paul LaPolice.Article content
