THUNDER BAY — Winter weather that has continued deep into spring will delay the opening of the city's bicycle lanes.
Officials say the late snowfall, combined with the threat of more to come this week, means the city will hold off opening the lanes beyond the typical May 1 start date, to allow for street sweeping operations to take place. The city, in a release issued on Wednesday, did not indicate when the bike lanes might officially open, only that staff will monitor the weather conditions and provide an update when bike lanes are clear of debris.City officials ask that motorists and cyclists remember they are sharing the road and to be mindful of one another.
