Big change for McDonald’s orders in South Africa

McDonald’s customers can now use their smartphone to order food for collection at the same prices they would get in-store, cutting out Mr D and Uber Eats.

McDonald’s South Africa has started rolling out the ability to place online orders for pickup on its mobile app — at the same prices as in-store or drive-through orders.

Solomon’s tenure includes overseeing a major technological revamp at the company, with the introduction of free-standing self-service kiosks six years ago. The kiosks have revolutionised the fast food industry, with many other takeaway outlets adopting similar systems. The feature is currently only supported at a handful of locations in South Africa, including McDonald’s flagship Sammy Marks store in Pretoria.
