Bayshore Christian will field a varsity team for the first time this season and longtime Bayside Academy Coach Phil Lazenby was hired to build the program from the ground up.

He took the Admirals to 13 playoff appearances, one regional title, and a state title game appearance in 2015. Lazenby was voted Coach of the Year in 2011 as well. It’s been a hot summer getting the guys in shape and learning the fundamentals because some of these guys have never played football before.
The Eagles have 28 players on the roster and Lazenby says that will be the biggest hurdle to overcome this season. “We call him ‘Buoy’, Brooks Jones. He’s a big kid, strong kid, got good speed. Probably 6′1, about 220 to 230 , aggressive, can play multiple positions, catches it well for someone that size. Then our quarterback, Nate Crooms, he’s a special kid also. He’s very athletic, a leader-type, can run and throw. We’re expecting big things out of him and they’re both going to have to play defense also so they won’t come off the field basically ever.
