The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) successfully opposed bail for one of four accused in a case involving multiple murders allegedly linked to insurance payout schemes. The other accused have abandoned their bail applications. The four face serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Police investigations suggest the crimes were motivated by insurance payouts and inheritance.

“The case involves two separate shootings: the first on 17 April 2024, which allegedly left Kholelwa Mabuto permanently blind, and the second on 9 October 2024, which allegedly resulted in the deaths of Siyanda Mabuto and Thembakazi Manyashe.
