Was there ever a point at which you wanted to trade it all in for a different career? And, if so, what would that career be? I think we all have those moments when we think what could have been. Kenya's Polls Body Halfway Through With Presidential Vote TallyThe Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is almost halfway through in the ongoing exercise of verifying and tallying presidential results. The commission had relayed verified results from over 140 constituencies of the 291 and is yet to declare the results of the remaining constituencies in a process marred by chaotic scenes over counter accusations by agents of leading candidates Raila Odinga of Azimio coalition and United Democratic Alliance's (UDA) William Ruto. IEBC has announced enhanced measures at the Bomas of Kenya during the verification of presidential results in a bid to expedite the process. In the revised rules of procedure, the electoral body's commissioner, Abdi Guliye, stated that only chief presidential agents from the four presidential candidates and their assistants will be allowed in the auditorium. Ruto's running mate Rigathi Gachagua has assured Kenya Kwanza supporters of a win in the recently concluded polls as the IEBC continues to tally the results at the Bomas of Kenya. Gachagua accused the Azimio agents of delaying the verification exercise at the same time lauding those from Kenya Kwanza for maintaining calm. IEBC has recalled close to 10,000 votes were erroneously awarded to Ruto in Form 34B in the Kiambu Town constituency. The poll agency also noted that errors were made in the summation of Odinga's vote, reports Capital FM.

Kenya's Marathon Vote Count Enters the Home StretchKenyans' long wait to know their fifth President enters the home stretch as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) prepares to declare the winner of the August 9, 2022 presidential election. Capital FM reports that anxiety has gripped the nation ahead of the release of the results of the race between the two leading presidential contenders Raila Odinga of Azimio La Umoja and William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Constitutionally, the Commission has until Tuesday August 16 to declare the winner of the presidential contest. The unveiling of the presidential winner will take place at the Bomas of Kenya - the Commission's national tallying centre. By 4.45am on Monday August 15, the Commission had verified and relayed results from 248 constituencies out of the 291. Kenyans voted in six elections, choosing a new president, senators, governors, lawmakers, women representatives, and some 1,500 county officials. The winner of the presidential race needs to secure 50 percent plus one vote and at least a quarter of the votes in 24 of Kenya's 47 counties. If neither Odinga nor Ruto gets over the threshold, a run-off must be held within 30 days of the original election, which would be a first in Kenyan history.
