Planning a camping trip? You can’t go wrong with these five favourite B.C. campgrounds, from Hornby Island to the Kettle River.
Spring is in the air and some of us start to think about summer camping. Reservations can be tricky, but as long as you are flexible with dates, or try to go mid-week, you should be able to get a campsite. Some reservations are made four months in advance. Here are five favourite spots for whatever your needs.
2. For swimming: Porteau Cove, Sea to Sky HighwayWaking up in your tent with a view of Howe Sound make this a much sought-after small campground. All the campsites along the shore and behind are reserved quickly, but there are walk-in sites that may be available mid-week if you don’t have reservations. This is such a popular campground, so if you’re prepared to alter dates, you should be able to get a site.
3. For backcountry enthusiasts: Berg Lake Trail, Mount Robson Provincial ParkThere are seven campgrounds along the trails in this spectacular park. This is for those who like to earn their stay: the closest camping is at the Kinney Lake site, which is 7 km from the parking lot. There are no showers, no flush toilets, and neither campfires nor pets are permitted. Camping here comes with spectacular views of the Mist, Berg and Robson glaciers against the backdrop of the stunning Mount Robson.
