“Adding these additional sailings will be a huge help to people living in coastal communities who rely on ferries for day-to-day travel,” Trevena said.
B.C. Ferries will increase sailings on several minor and northern routes after they were cut in 2014.
In a prepared statement, Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, said the additional sailings were being restored after a request from the B.C. Ferry Advisory Committee. “Along with reducing and freezing fares our government is committed to ensuring ferry service meets the needs of island families up and down the coast.”However, the additional Port Hardy to Prince Rupert sailings and Skidegate to Alliford Bay sailings would take longer to set in place. The increased Crofton to Vesuvius sailings would begin May 1.
