Two sailings aboard the Queen of Cowichan have been cancelled due to a gearbox problem with the 43-year-old vessel

B.C. Ferries cancelled two sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Nanaimo’s Departure Bay terminal due to a mechanical issue on one of its vessels.

The two sailings — 6:15 a.m. departing Nanaimo and 8:25 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay — aboard the Queen of Cowichan have been cancelled due to a gearbox problem with the 43-year-old C-class ferry. “Engineers have the necessary parts on board and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” B.C. Ferries said in a release.
