Authorities confirm that burnt body wasn’t Bester
This comes days after a photo, allegedly of Bester and his supposed girlfriend, celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana, surfaced online after it was snapped at a store in Sandton last year.
In a statement released yesterday, the department said a post-mortem that was conducted after a fire broke out in Bester’s prison cell at the Mangaung Correctional Centre last year showed that the person who died in that fire was not Bester.
It continues: “Recorded as an unnatural death, the standard operating procedures dictated that an investigation be launched and the incident be reported to the SA Police Service. In line with the concession contract, two officials from the [department] were appointed by the controller [an official of the department] to conduct an investigation into the incident. The department said it was only sharing accounts provided by its officials, not the police, who are conducting their own investigation.
The department has appealed for the public to come forward with any with information that may lead to the capture of Bester. In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
