A man was airlifted to Edmonton after an RCMP\u002Dinvolved shooting at a hospital in Vermilion.

Mounties in that central Alberta town responded to a call from EMS for help with an agitated male “having a panic attack” shortly after 3 p.m. March 1. When they arrived, officers decided he was impaired by drugs and needed to be brought to Vermilion hospital, said a Friday morning news release.Sign up to receive daily headline news from the Calgary Herald, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.
The man was airlifted by STARS ambulance to a hospital in Edmonton. No officers were injured. The RCMP launched an internal review, Alberta’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating.
